I just installed an AMD Radeon R9 200 series graphics card into the PCI Express slot on my Dell XPS 9100. A few times a day the screen will just freeze on whatever I am doing and I will need to manually power the computer off and restart it. After doing that, it runs for several hours completely fine, but then will freeze randomly again.

I am not the most technically knowledgeable person, but I do know the basics of my computer and its parts. What should I be considering with this issue? The computer was not having these problems at all prior to the new graphics card.

The computer specs are:
i7 CPU 930 @ 2l.80GHz(8 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
8GB RAM
I believe the power supply is 440W which is more than required for the graphics card. If any additional information is needed I can try to get that, too. Any help would be appreciated.

did you used to have a nvidia card in it? and the w of the powersupply necessarily doesnt matter it is the amperage off your 12v rail(s) some older psu only push 200-250w as the 5v rails were more powerful back then, if you can get me the make/model of psu. because first off did you used to have a nvidia card because it conflicts with amd drivers and can cause issues.

It previously had a Radeon HD 5670 in the slot. How do I figure out the PSU?

Also, I guess the wattage is 525.

you would need to open up the case of the computer and inspect the psu for manufcturer and model also 12v rail amperage would be helpful to if it is on the psu. but before that use ccleaner to uninstall your amd drivers and go to amds website to get the latest drivers, this will most likely fix your problem

I'm looking for specific areas to clean out old AMD drivers. Is there a specific command I should run in CCleaner or just do the normal analyze/run?

just run an analyze then it see if it brings up any amd drivers. if so delete only those for your graphics, then go to amds site and down load the latest ones

Sorry to check back in so late, but I have attempted a few times to run CCleaner and fix the issue. It appears to happen less, but is still occurring. Should I check the PSU inside now, since the CCleaner does not appear to be fixing the issue?

here try it this way before just to rule it out. it may not be pulling everything

dl and install http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_unin...
power down
power up into safe mode
uninstall graphic drivers new and old
power down
power up into windows
go to nvidias site to dl drivers

if it still persists after this then get malwarebytes and run a scan to see if this is causing it
