No sound coming out of laptop speakers, however it works when HDMI cable is plugged in TV.

The sound from my laptop outputs through my TV speakers. I do not receive sound through headphones or external speaks when plugged into the laptop. I've tried updating and reinstalling the drivers but still not resolution. Could this be a hardware issue? If not, how can I fix it? Thank you so much.

So does the audio play through the the TV when you use headphones/external speakers? If so the solution could be as simple as entering 'playback devices' and disabling the tv, forcing it to use a different device.

I've tried that too the speaker still do not work. It looks like a hardware issue. Thank you for you suggestions

Check windows sound settings in control panel check if speakers are enabled and set as default playback device
