im going from an imac to a custom pc and im wondering if there will be any big performance drops or high cpu load going from an i5 to an fx 6300. i use chrome and i watch atleast 2 twitch livestreams(highest quality) and 3 other random tabs including youtube. my internet speed is 50 down 25 up.

Solution
for internet, both are overkill. you can drop down to an athlon ii x2, but i would reccommend the fx 4300, but if you plan on playing games, the 6300 is only like $10 more. the graphics card is important for videos too, i have a radeon 6670 and love it. but make sure you get GDDR5 on what ever card you choose.

the gpu i plan on getting is either the r7 260x or 7850/r7 265 so i should be good on the gpu side :)

This is a start at the upper end of your budget. You might not need this much GPU, depending on your needs.

my current build idea. i already have a copy of windows. is there anything terribly wrong with this build? alot of the cheaper prices get negated due to taxes on amazon so almost all the parts are from newegg. the remaining $30 might go to ram or gpu.

Both cpu is more than enough for browsing and also both perfect for gaming. Either of and 8gb of ram would throw in the perfect formula for a gaming pc. No need to go above 8gb, that's already more than enough it's highly doubtful you'll utilize all if that ram. Peace!
