Case "System Warning" wire doesn't match motherboard

Howdy, I'm building my first PC, got started after getting a build list from the helpful people here at tomshardware forums. Got all the parts, and I'm putting it together when I notice that the "system warning speaker" plugin wire from my case is:

+5v | D- | D+ | Ground

But the motherboard wants them in this order:

+5v | Ground | Ground | Speaker

(I'm assuming "Speaker" is D+, right?)

I've searched the 'net and these forums and didn't see anything about this. My question is, do I just plug the darn thing in? Maybe one of them made a mistake in their labeling...?

What MB do you have? Does it have LEDs on it? The speaker is just for issuing the beep codes; if your motherboard has indicators on it you don't even need the speaker.

Those speakers typically come with the case, and so it is entirely possible your MB doesn't even have a connection for it.

Hey guys, thanks for your guidance.

@IDontUnderstand I don't understand lol. You asked what component and I stated the cable is coming out of my case, but since I'm a newb I'm not sure if you missed that bit of info or if I'm missing something ;)

The motherboard is an Asus M5A99X Evo R2.0

If all the cables coming from my case are LED's than yes, I have them:

POWER SW
POWER LED+
POWER LED-
H.D.D. LED
RESET SW

Then there is the system warning speaker I started the post for, and a USB cable.

@Deuce65 what are these motherboard indicators you speak of? My motherboard has a connection for it, but like I explained the plugs are not in the same order.

What I meant by LEDs was on the MB itself, not from the case.
Okay so that motherboard has POST state LEDs that perform the same function as the speaker. Instead of hearing beeps you will see lights. The manual will tell you what each specific light combination means, instead of beep code.
Basically you can ignore the speaker.

Ok yeah I'm just making this even more complicated then it has to be, so yes the pins of the speaker suppose to go in like the way you've described in the OP. In addition, Deuce65 made a good point that if your motherboard has it's only diagnostic feature such as a LED display for error codes, then you don't even need to install the speaker, cuz your motherboard is able to just use the number instead.

I was thinking too deep into the problem, my bad. lol
