I have a i5 2500k and i recently got a new GPU ( R9 280x ). The cpu seems to me getting a tad bit hotter than usual and the stock fan is making more noise. Should i just upgrade to a newer model cpu or buy a aftermarket fan?

That CPU is fine. Either try cleaning out your current hatsink or buy a new aftermarket one

That i5 will keep up with any GPU that is out. I agree with mikey, give it a good clean or go with an aftermarket heat sink like a CM Hyper EVO212

the 2500k is a beast. if you have a p67/z68 motherboard then get a good aftermarket cooler and overclock it.
