Need help ASAP.

I got a disk from a friend for windows 8.1. I installed and another friend installed but now a 3rd person is trying to install it on to his pc. Its going to 96% and then comes up with an error. Someone please help me with this problem.

Either the target HDD is faulty,
or that particular DVD drive can't read that disk,
or you are actually entering the same key.
The install step merely checks to see if it is a valid key....not that itis a valid license.

He reformatted his ssd so it forsure has enough room. Should he try to reset his cmos?


He hasnt had any problems with his prev Operating system. He just wanted to upgrade.
