Im looking to upgrade my computer since its running a bit slow and lagging in some games. My current pc was ordered through Cyber Power Pc and is roughly 3 years old. Pretty certain i have the knowledge to build/replace parts and keep basically my existing PSU and case. Budget is around 500$ and i would prefer to use newegg.

Current pc specs -

870a-ud3 gigabyte motherboard
amd phenom ii x4 965 black edition
Power Color 6870 video card
4gigs kingston hyper x memory
700w coolermaster PSU
500g hard drive and a 32g kingston ssd(was a freebie)

Im thinking im going to need a new windows, probably going to go windows 8 unless told otherwise.

Going to keep case, psu, hard drives(which im going to wipe, or at least attempt)

One last question, Is reusing the same psu from my computer wise? How long will these things last? Its been 3 years and ive never had a problem with it. It is a name brand.

Build is basically just for gaming and web browsing. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

The video upgrade is not THAT much, but it would be noticeable especially on higher settings.
If you did not upgrade the CPU as well it may be hard to tell the difference between a 6870 and a 660.
It's more like the difference between a V6 and a V8 Camaro.

Above is good. Another option.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($179.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock B85 Pro4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: A-Data XPG V2 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($82.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card ($159.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $497.95

Let me put it like this.
The 6870 is a station wagon, and the gtx 660 is a camaro lol
