i have a hp m7760n tower with a 771 socket, 945g chipset , and a intel core2duo e6400/2.13ghz processor will the core 2 quad q6600 processor work

If I was using the q6600 I would opt for a newer LGA 775 chipset. the p45 chipset is great for overclocking and you would be able to get that q6600 to a reasonably higher frequency /clock speed. If you can find one. But I do remember that CPU having issues with the 945g chipset...well remember reading about it somewhere
