Hello World,
So, I recently attempted to install Linux Mint onto my computer (because it was easy and I liked Mint 8 on my old computer).
Currently, I'm using my HP Pavilion M7 laptop, which came auto-partitioned from the factory.
Anyways, all four primary partitions have been taken: the C: and D: drives, the System Drive, and the HP_TOOLS drive.
C: is the boot drive with most of my files, and D: seems to serve as some kind of recovery drive (?)
The System drive has some of the start up commands, such as F2 when booting, and HP_TOOLS does a similar thing will keyboard shortcuts such as F11 to access startup tools.
What I'd like to know is which drive I should delete in order to make room for another Primary partition.
Also, is a primary partition needed for booting, or can I just use an extended partition?
HP and their forums don't seem to provide any additional documentation on the subject other than forum posts that contradict each other this way and that, so I'd like to get your opinion on the matter.
Thanks.
