How can I increase my C drive space?

Recently, I receive a Windows pop-up saying that I have only 400MB of free space left on my C drive and I need to free it up. But, this drive has held many important data. I don’t want to free it up and lose part of original data there. So, I just wonder whether I can add some free space to this C drive from other partitions. For example, I have an E partition that has 85GB of free space. Is it possible for me? Help me, please!

Solution
You can resize a partition by going to disk management.
Start > right click 'Computer' > Manage > Under Storage select 'Disk Management' > right click C: select extend volume

Also I can not replicate this right now but I do believe the 85 GB partition has to be unallocated so if it says partition just right click the partition and delete it. Be careful not to delete you primary partition or you recovery partition!!

If you're not 100% sure of what you are doing, don't go messing with extending partitions.

A screenshot of your Disk Management window would help, but you can probably just move some files (NOT applications) into that 85GB free E drive.

Agreed, I'm assuming you made this 85 GB partition yourself Manny768, but if you didn't and you are not exactly sure what partition is what then follow USAFRet's advice.

All this talk of partition resizing and extending ignores the fact that we have no idea of how his drives or partitions are currently configured.

Is it one drive? Two drives?
All we know is a "C drive" and "E partition". Just by that terminology, I'd be hesitant to suggest "oh, it's really simple".

I'd want a specific look at the Disk Management window before suggesting anything more than 'move some stuff elsewhere'.

yeah, all we can really say, and say so safely, is files can be cut or copied from anywhere in the C: drive (obviously don't mess with WINDOWS files) and pasted into E: (whatever , E is, assuming 85 GB are really free in there. Now when you need to open that document, movie, or picture (whatever the files are) you can just navigate to the E: instead of C:.
