Can I copy my Recovery file onto the USB drive and then load it to the SSD or do I need a USB to SATA cable?

And do I copy or clone with the Samsung software?

I dont think literally moving Windows will work, it'll end up getting corrupt due to new hardware. You're better off just backing up all your important files and reinstalling Windows.

If your USB drive is big enough, you can make a recovery image to the USB drive and then restore it onto the new SSD with a recovery disk or original installation media. In Windows 8.1 it's been moved to the bottom left corner of the File History windows.
