So, purchased an XFX R9 270x DD about a month ago, bought a second one right before (well during) the mining craze when they finally wised up after depleting and jacking the prices sky high on the R9 280x/R9 290 series. Current setup is: M5A97 EVO R2.0, FX-8320 @ 4.4Ghz, Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600, THERMALTAKE TR2 630W, Toshiba 128GB SSD, 2x WD Black 500GB S3. All of my gaming is done at 1080p. After installing the second card, the ps got pretty hot one day and smelled a little bit like the crematory across the street from work...not good. I kept having crashes (BSOD, hangs, the like) and wasn't sure exactly what it was. Clocked the CPU down, clocked the cards down, took a card out...nothing mattered, kept having issues. Picked up a TT SP-850m power supply assuming it was the culprit. IT was! System is running stable and with plenty of power to spare. I know there are a lot of people out there like me, you buy a decent 650w power supply with your first card and think it might be ok for two, definitely not the case! Do not cheap out, it's essentially the most important component in your case.
