i did a bit of research into this and i find out that there is usually allot of misunderstanding in the thread so i will address all of them to avoid wasting everyone's time.
i know in order to use a wireless xbox360 controller with a pc you need a receiver and the play and charge kit only transfers power and not connection.
i have a wireless 360 controller but the battery pack is useless now as in it barely holds any power so i plug in the play and charge kit into my 360 and essentially use it as a wired controller and have no issues. now my question is if i buy the receiver and plug in the play and charge kit ONLY to power the controller would the receiver still work? or would the two peripherals collide?

Solution
When you plug the controller into the xbox, it is not acting as a wired controller. IT is essentially being powered by a wire while acting wireless. Plugging the charge cable in while using a wireless receiver on your computer is just fine.
