Any opinions on this build is appreciated?http://pcpartpicker.com/p/33xri

For a gaming rig at that budget, a Core i5-4670k (with a Z87 board, such as the ASRock Z87 Extreme4) is usually recommended instead of an AMD FX chip, though you might have additional reasons to want an AMD chip that you haven't stated yet.

I think the R9 290X is still overpriced considering you can get a gtx 780 for around $500.

1000W psu is overkill for that build. A good 650W is plenty for a single-gpu system even with overclocking, or 850W if you plan to get a second gpu later.

DDR3-2400 memory is overkill as well. Just get some DDR3-1600 memory. For gaming, the performance increase is not significant.
