Hello

I am building my new computer and it will be used for graphic design, 3D modeling and rendering, video editing as well as gaming.

Does anyone use a Blue Ray rw drive for saving data or making Blue Ray discs? Is it better just to have a regular DVD rw drive?

I wouldn't bother with a BD writer, but you should buy a multi-format, dual-layer CD/DVD writer that also reads BD discs.

That will give you all the storage options you need, with the added ability to play BD movies if you install BD compatible player software if that appeals to you.

I have an LG burner in my tower that ticks all the above boxes (BD read, not write), and being able to burn my data to dual-layer DVD media has come in very useful, cuts down on the number of burned discs to safely store away.
