To all those that take the time to read/answer my HPC build questions, Thank you in advance. Your knowledge is greatly appreciated.

I want a system that can handle HPC such as FEA analysis/CFD/Heat Transfer etc.

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: ASAP. (When the build is finalized I will purchase immediately)

Budget Range: 2500 absolute max.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: 1. FEA/CFD/Heat transfer calcs. signal processing etc. (using octave/python), multitasking (internet research, watching youtube and occasionally movies)

Are you buying a monitor: No. Will be using multiple. Potentially up to 4.

Parts : So far I have chosen the following parts:

1. CPU: AMD Opteron 6344 (Qty 2)

6. Sound Card: Please advice.

7. Power Supply: Please advice. Will not skimp on power supply has to be of high quality and also has enough power to allow for upgrades.

Do you need to buy OS: Use Windows primarily but am interested in Linux. Please advice.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.

Location: Southern California.

Parts Preferences: I dont have brand loyalty. However I want quality parts.

For the Power supply get a Corsair RM 750W; it's gold rated and silent. SSD's are faster but have limited writes, if you will be saving file constanly a HDD will be fine.... SSD for boot drive and storing programs while HDD for the File saving.

Nvidia Quadro's do not have SLI and not very good Overclocking capibilitys.
I'm not much of a RAM Person, but High speed RAM would be better seeing as it's going to be a work station.

Do you plan to game on this machine?
