So I have windows 8.1 and has been running perfectly fine for the longest time. I went to install my graphics card and after that my computer screen froze in mid use. So I turned the computer off took out the graphics card and when I started it back up the screen popped up saying automatic repair and I went and reset the computer back to last restore point. Once that was done the computer worked but was super slow and now when the screen savor comes on the computer monitor completely stops working and freezes. I don't know if it is a hardware or a software problem and I would rather not restore the hard drive because I have everything on there and haven't had a chance to back it up. Has anyone else had this problem and or know how to fix this?

What are your complete system specs? Freezing problems are usually caused by overheating, RAM problems, or a cheap PSU. It's possible you knocked the CPU cooler loose when you installed the GPU. What are the load CPU temps? You can use a program like HWMonitor to log the highest temps. I'm interested to see what model your PSU is. The PSU may not have been up to the challenge of powering the GPU and is now damaged.

When I ordered all the parts I made sure that everything was compatible. Now you have me wondering if I just fried my mother board. But the power supply is a 750W and I took out the GPU so it is not longer installed but my power supply is Ultra LSP750 750-Watt Power Supply.

I can't get the computer on to check the temperatures that's the problem. But when I check all the cables inside the computer they're all attached. I used a temperature gauge inside when it was running (since I cannot get the computer to work to check) and it's all fine. And the rest of the specs of the power supply or all the computer in general?

The complete system specs including model numbers if possible. I didn't see where you said the system isn't powering on. You just said it is freezing and running slow... So the system is now not powering on at all? This troubleshooting checklist should be able to help if that's the case.

Well I got it to turn on once and was running it and when it went to the lock screen was when it froze and the problems started again. I built the computer last year and it has been running perfectly fine until I installed the graphics card then took it out. But here are the specs.
Motherboard:
Biostar H77MU3 Intel 7 Series Motherboard - MicroATX, Socket (LGA 1155), Intel H77 Express Chipset, 1600MHz DDR3, SATA III 6Gb/s, RAID, 6-CH Audio, Gigabit LAN, USB 3.0, PCIe 3.0

Processor:
Intel Core BX80637I53470 i5-3470 Processor - Quad Core, 3.2GHz, 6M Cache, SSE4.1, Core i5, LGA 1155

Graphics card:
MSI GeForce GTX 650 N650-MD1GD5/OC Video Card - 1GB GDDR5, PCI-Express 3.0(x16), 1x Dual-Link DVI-I, 1x D-Sub (VGA), 1x HDMI, DirectX 11, Dual-Slot, Fan

and my power supply has a 3 year warranty so if it's that I can always try and use the warranty.
