ive been on the fence whether to go with the traditional cpu or apu route.
i have i budget of $200. all i need a is the cpu and the mobo. i have everything else. ive been looking at some amd fx cpus and some richland apus. ive also looked at the intel i3 4130 but i can't find a good affordable mobo for that.

If you intend to get a dedicated GPU, FX 6300 or Haswell i3 is the way to go. If willing to do some minor overclocking, fx 6300, otherwise, the i3.

Were they old AMD boards by chance? Their AMD boards tend to kinda suck. Asrock really has stepped up their game the last 3 gens of Intel boards. I own two of them myself. A p67 extreme4 and my current z77 extreme4. If you don't think you will ever do any kind of raid configuration, you go go with something like this.

Yea, the Asrock AMD boards are pretty bad unless you get some of the higher numbered 990fx extremes. Their intel boards are far better. It will be 2yrs on the Z77 extreme4 come may and it has been almost 3yrs on the p67 extreme4. The P67 extreme4 has been running nearly 24/7 in my file server since I got the z77 extreme4. I was having issue with my old P55 gigabyte board and had to stay intel to keep my raid intact. So my i5 2400 and P67 extreme4 went to the file server and I went to Microcenter for the Z77 extreme4 and 3570k. :D

Yes you will with that board, only the cheaper 760g motherboards like the GA-78LMT-USB3 will give you onboard video. FX chips do not have IGP like the A-series and most newer Intel chips. If not looking for extreme overclocking, that combo will do fine for you. I have 2 of them with an FX 8320. I took advantage of the FX 8320 for $99.99 deal awhile back. They are like $129.99 now.

i really cant buy a dedicated gpu right now but which is the best APU(A6-A10 apus) bundle under $200 but im playing to buy a gpu later. http://www.microcenter.com/site/products/amd_bundles.aspx

I wouldn't recommend an APU if you plan to buy a dedicated GPU later. Either buy an i3 or get the FX 6300 with GA-78LMT-USB3. You could even manage an FX 8320 with that board for around $200 at microcenter. The IGP isn't as good, but at least you can use your system for everyday stuff until you get your GPU. No sense in spending money uselessly on a temporary problem.

yea you're right i might just go for the fx 6300 combo. also with OS would work better windows 7 or 8, i've heard that 8 is awful. thoughts?
