Just put together a new desktop with all new components. Inside there's:
Asus Z87-Pro motherboard
Intel i-4770k processor; CoolerMax cpu cooler
Gigabyte Nvidea GTX 760x 4gb video card
Ballistix Sport 2x4gigs DDR3 Ram
Corsair 240gb SSD HD
WD 1TB SATA HD
LG DVD R/RW
With a VGA monitor and usb keyboard and mouse connected to the motherboard, the machine will power on. It beeps once, check the various components, and then beeps again (1 long, 4 short; the manual says this BIOS beep means "hardware component failure"). The Boot Device LED remains on, and the Q_Code screen shows "A2" for "IDE Detect." No signal is detected by the monitor. No other LED is lit.
After reading through the forums, I did not find anyone with this specific problem, and I tried the following, cumulatively:
1) disconnecting the optical drive
2) removing the videocard (which was in the recommended PCI slot)
3) re-seating the RAM (which was in the recommended A2/B2 configuration)
4) disconnecting, alternately, the WD and Corsair hard drives.
After each attempt, the result was unchanged (except for when I booted up without a keyboard/mouse plugged in - that gave me an 'input devices' Q_code). I am out of ideas and would really appreciate some help.
