I have an i5 4770k mildly overclocked on a asus z87 plus with 16 gigs of ram, a samsung ssd 120 gig? As well as an 80 gig intel ssd. The video card is a radeon 7870. It has a 700 watt PSU. It is dual booted with windows 7 32 bit (I use it for ruby on rails, getting it to work in 8.1 64 was too much of a nightmare) along with a windows 8.1 64 bit install, both on separate drives. I have two monitors, one a 24 inch dell touch screen and another misc non touch monitor.

Now as for the problem. So, often when I go to boot it up everything turns on, the video card's three fans start spinning, and it makes all the noises you would think it would when booting up, but nothing comes up on the monitors, and no combination of key mashing seems to do anything. Powering down the machine and removing the video card and reseating it fixes the problem every time. I turn it back on and bam, brings me to my dual boot screen and I can boot into which ever os I want and everything is fine. If I put the computer to sleep and wake it back up not long after it boots back up fine, but if I wait over night, same problem, the machine will make noises and look fine, but no monitor stuff happening. I have both enabled and disabled the on board graphics on the bios and that doesn't seem to effect it. Also, using only one monitor doesn't seem to help. I had similar problems with the video card I had in there before, which is now in another machine and working fine, so I think we can say the video card is fine. Any ideas what could cause the problem?

I think your PSU is slowly failing... Download speedfan and monitor your voltages.
