I purchased a new LG Mdisc optical drive with SATA cables...pc has IDE. I also purchased an IDE to SATA converter (40 pin) & cables. The power comes on, but nothing else happens. The OD is not recognized. What do I need to do?

I was guessing that would be something I needed to do, but didn't know for sure. I'm no tech, so what do I look for? Thanks for the reply.

Would I need a card plus the IDE to SATA adapter? Thanks for your reply.

What the make and model of the IDE to SATA converter?
Personally I don't like converter as it is usually hit or miss.

For a PCI sata adapter, you connect the m-disc drive to it. it doesn't use IDE at all, but most likely you won't be able to boot from it.

This is what I purchased. Syba SD-ADA50016 IDE/SATA Converter Bi-directional IDE to SATA. No IDE cable used now.

There's only 1 way to plug it in. Is there something else that I need to do? I can't see the new cd rom on any of the lists.
