Hi.
I have read and tested thing suggested in other threads and still no luck. Creating a new thread to test my luck.

I got a new Samsung 840 Evo 250gb today. I replaced my old Samsung 830. Using the same sate outlet, the same sata cable and everything. Also I did not do a transfer and instead did a clean install of Windows 8.

Crystal Diskmark gives me reasonable speeds, but AS SSD and Samsung Magician gives me speeds that I can beat with my 830 that has written over 11TB of data. I am a bit concerned and wonder if I need to change it out.

I have shut off system restore. I have changed to performance in Magician. I have trimmed it. It is a fresh windows and I have installed the chipset drivers. I also switched the sata cable just to make sure and I get the exact same results. Even with Rapid it some times have a hard time hitting 500mb/s in read and write.

I am on the Sabertooth 990FX mb with a 8320£€@4.3GHz. AHCI enabled, 12gb of 1866 ram.

(Had to abort the AS SSD test because it got stuck around 2mb/s on 4k and took forever. Im really concerned here. =((

Yeah. I know. Used to run 2x8 and 2x4gb, But I had an accident and had to use an old 4gb dimm as stand alone. Right now 3x4gb. Still runs in dual though according to CPU-z. Did some checks and there were no major loss. And would still not explain the bad ssd speeds since my 830 performed as it should until today when I switched it out for the new 840 evo. Right now, in magician, it is slower than the well used 830 =/

I have tried with Rapid as well and I get way better results. But like the Random Writes in magician is spec to 66000 and I get 4116........... With Rapid on I reach around 33000. Seq Writes land around 200 in magician, spec 520mb/s. My 830 with over 11tb written reached 230mb/s yesterday and is spec @ 320 when it was new. I have tried both Magicians optimize and windows trim. In magician it takes like 4 min to run the optimization, the 830 took like 20-30 seconds. It feels really strange. Weird part is it feels really fast. But that would be the reads that still are "ok" in action I guess

The first one. I have double checked. I had some similar issues with the 830 when that was new and that time it was the port. This time I simply removed the 830 and installed the 840 EVO. Same port, same cables and everything. Just enabled rapid again. Will post a magician run asap

Thing is. Had Magician reported the same results as Crystal, I would not care. But the radical difference just makes me worried. Last few days I have had started getting some real trouble with my PC. Been escalating and I am pretty sure it is the mb. Just like 20 ago min I could not even start it until all power had been consumed. Powerbutton did nothing, had to start it with mem-ok on-board button and after that little incident my post beeps are gone. Guess I will run in rapid and hope that I didnt get a bad drive and can blame it on the mb....

Ok. Not saying it is Asus fault. My mb is damaged. The accident I mentioned above was with a faulty dimm. Think I shorted something because ever since the PC has been acting strange. And should it persist, perhaps an RMA is the only option left.

I think the VRM are damaged. I cant use LLC an cpu or nb-cpu without it crashing. APM as well. The only thing I can change are the simple volts. If I use the advanced power options in AI tweaker, odds are the pc will not boot, sometimes not even post. Feel this must be the mb. Wonder if this holds back the ssd.

Ok. I will post back later on. I am installing windows and that stuff onto my dads htpb build. When I am done I will plug in the 840 EVO in that pc and try it. If the results are just as bad I guess I need to exchange it?

Ok. So now I tested it in an FM2+ build and even though the random IOP´s were low, about the same as when I use rapid on my AM3+ mb, the seq read/write were almost dead on the spec´s. Have a screenshot on the other PC. Read IOP´s were actually better on my old Samsung 830 (11+tb written). This in mind.

Probably my mb, right? Since the performance was so much better on the brand new FM2+ mb compared to my own mb.
