In the middle of assembling Gigabyte F2 A88XM HD3 mobo, got a problem with power connectors from PSU. fitted the 20 pin +4 pin together in
the 24 pin socket. Problem is the 12v atx socket is a 8 socket type but only a 4 pin plug for the 12 atx as was on the old motherboard.

Do I need another PSU, or can I leave this 8 pin socket disconnected or can I put the 4 pin one end of the 8 pin socket only ?

You can just plug in the 4 pin 12v power cable on the 8 pin 12V header, if your PSU has the 4pin one only, but if your PC don't boot then you may need the new PSU.

Thanks Cin19, Found out I can use a molex adapter to the 4 pin. a few pennies is better than a new psu :-)
