Hello, noob here. I recently acquired a few Dell Optiplex 280's for free and purchased an Intel P4 670 CPU for it. I was aware that the factory PSU couldn't handle the chip so I upgraded the PSU to Corsair 430W which should be enough. But I still get the Alert! Incompatible Processor detected message. Why?

Simple, the BIOS doesn't recognize it. <Maybe> there's a BIOS update available at the Dell site that will allow it to recognize and work with that processor. If not you're SOL.

Check the specs at Dell and see what processors were available for purchase. Those will be the ones supported.
