Will hibernating pause dskchk?

I recently had several hard drive related problems with my laptop, and attempted defragment it, which helped somewhat. I rebooted it later, and was several error messages concerning the hard drive. After that, I decided to run dskchk, checking both boxes, and, with having an almost full 500GB hard drive, it obviously was going to take a long time. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that, and did it anyway. As it would happen, the only place I can plug my laptop in is at a coffee shop that closes at 8:30 pm, and it is definitely going to take longer than that. It has been stuck at 16% for about 8 hours, and the coffee shop is going to close in 2. I was wondering if it would be possible to hibernate the computer, and if I could proceed the next morning, without losing any data. In case it makes any difference, the hard drive light has been on solidly for this entire time. Any timely help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Solution
Hibernating will pause chkdsk. As well, if it has been stuck like that with an active HDD LED for 8 hours, the hard drive is most likely failing.

Thank you SO much for the fast answer. Too bad about the whole failing hard drive thing though....
