Displayport vs HDMI

I just purchased a monitor from Goodwill that has DVI and VGA connectors. I plan on purchasing a DVI to HDMI/DP cable since I already have two monitors hooked up to my GPU's VGA and DVI outs.

Is there any specific benefit of using one over the other? The DP cables are a small bit more expensive, but I don't mind the extra cost if it will look any better.

Like ak47jar3d said you wont notice a difference. I was just showing you display port was made for computers hdmi was not...

Sorry, but that doesn't really help. I know of the differing specifications of the two, but I didn't know if there was a major difference when converting the signal.

But DisplayPort can be used to connect the same device to multiple displays. A single DisplayPort interface can support up to four monitors at 1920 by 1200 pixel resolution each, or two monitors at 2560-by-1600 pixel resolution, with each display receiving independent audio and video streams.

I would definitely use DP if my monitors supported it. :p All of my my monitors are old enough that they don't even have HDMI.
