I'm currently using an old IDE disc drive with an IDE to SATA converter. I can see my drive but whenever I try to access a disc in it, I get this error: http://i.imgur.com/CohyhQ9.png

I'm set to AHCI mode in my BIOS because I use an SSD for my OS. Could this be the issue?

Go to disk management and tell me what you see for this drive. I read somewhere you could try assigning the drive a different drive letter in disk management but not sure whether or not that would help. First thing I would try is to look at the drive in disk management.

Here's what I see. Changing the drive letter didn't seem to change anything

Thanks for sharing the image. I see the file system is RAW which means it needs to be formatted. I see the capacity and free space are the same. I assume you have data on that drive since you are trying to access it. If you don't then you should format the drive. If you do then you might want to check out this thread - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/280932-32-hard-drive-... - on recovering data from a RAW drive.
