Just got in my Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2.0, I got it all hooked up and looking neat and now I can't figure out how to get Windows to boot from my HDD. I had to switch mobo's because my old one crapped out so I never got a chance to set up any sort of back up or prepare my OS to migrate to the new mobo.

I can get to my bios and everything reads fine and its detecting everything properly. But when it goes to boot, it shows the windows loading screen, and then flashes BSOD took quickly for me to see anything and then loops back to the "windows did not shutdown properly" page.

I'm at a loss, I don't have a windows 7 disc, and I can't format my HDD because I have tons of stuff on there that I need, plus I don't have any way to format it.

I've tried changing my sata settings as suggested by similar threads but nothing.

Solution
If you are trying to boot from a HDD with windows on it, you can't. It is rare that you can swap out HDD A to system B and expect it to work, You'll need to re-install windows again. There isn't much you can do besides get a windows disk.

Assuming I don't have to re format it, will the fact that I have an existing copy of windows on the HDD cause any issues?

I'm very much new to this, what will I need to do?
