I need to have my monitor set to 60mHz refresh rate as it simply will not work with any other refresh rate. However many newer games start with higher refresh rates out of box and thus i cannot even get into the settings screen to change the resolution/refresh. I have an Nvidia card that has no option to limit the refresh rate to 60 mHz as the card can do quite a variety of settings. Previously I've had AMD cards that have the option to set the refresh rate permanently so I know that it is possible to lock the refresh rate. I cannot figure out how to lock the refresh rate to 60 mHz and remove all other possibilities from the mix. Please help me to permanently lock my refresh rate to 60 mHz so I can play stuff again.
Also please understand that I am not asking for opinions on what frames per second and refresh rates are good or whatever. I simply wish to remove any possibility of the monitor refresh rate changing from 60 mHz. Many games are setup for better monitors or tablets or whatever these days, and I get that. However they all work at 60mHz as well, IF one can set that. I've done a bunch of .ini hacks on games to set it but want to avoid having to figure out where such files and settings should be since most games don't have such detailed documentation at this point. I'd imagine the best way would to regedit and delete the excessive display modes that my hardware cannot support.
