check with your isp for the speed you pay for. run a local speed test see if that speed is close. if your paying for 10/2 speed and your way under what your paying for. plug your modem into a pc and see if it the router and hub. if your speed still low. check the age of the cable modem or dsl modem. a lot of newer modem use channel bonding to get there higher speeds. in the home or work place look at the age of the router and wifi cards. newer card are 300 and faster n cards now.
if the old router is b/g then there where one issue is. if your hardware is new...then contact your isp and change speed plans.
