I have a portable dvd player that I got at a yard sale for $5.00 with no charger or cables. I did managed to get it charged up. The video play's real good but it has a sound problem. I get sound at the audio/video line out but no sound from the internal speakers or the headphones. I am trying to figure out who makes it so I can get a schematic diagram so I can fix the sound. Please look at this Dropbox jpg pictures https://www.dropbox.com/s/hiw8779bhruf706/portable%20dv... and https://www.dropbox.com/s/cuapunix9ty4bvy/portable%20dv... Does anyone know who made this dvd player?

It looks like a bit of a no-name brand.

Your best bet is probably to pull it open and look for stuff silkscreened on the PCB, or obvious failures.

I'd remove the personally identifying stuff from the post, if I were you.

Even if you ID it there is little chance of getting a schematic. Seems that the problem is in the amp chip that is used for the internal speakers and headphone output. You should be able find that chip since it will be near the speaker connection to the pc board. The chip number will also tell you if it is an amp chip for this function.

I found the problem with the sound on this portable dvd player. It is the volume control that is bad (open). I know the physical type of volume control it needs. But without the wiring diagram I don't know what ohm value to get.

Usually it's printed on them.

OMG I USED TO HAVE THAT THING, and I have not a clue what the brand is

There is no ohm value that I can see on it without pulling the volume control off the pc board. I also verified in an other way that the volume control is bad. I bridged between the volume control input and the output (wiper arm) and got full volume out of the internal speakers.

Pull it off the board, and grab a multimeter.

Chances are that you could use just about any POT, though. I'd look in the 10K range.
