Sli and memory bandwidth

Hello all. maybe this is and old guestion but i still ask it cos i need to find out some things

My pc specs:

Asus A8n-sli-premium (socet 939)
AMD Opteron 180 (socet 939)
4 Gb of ram running in dual channel
2x bluestorm II 500w

i want to buy two cards for sli option.
please dont start telling me that one and more powerful is better, i know that myself also.
i never had sli cards and want to test them on that system.

My main guestion is: what is the bandwidth that i can use on that kind of confirguration
is the 256-bit cards running in sli will be blocked by cpu or something like that.
and is the 128bit cards are too slow for setup like that.

my goal is to get at least 1gb of vram cards. i have been thinking of nvidia 9600GT cards
also i have been thinking of gtx 275 cards.

The end of the story i will ask the community a question like this:

What do you think that will be lowest price and best performance setup for my pc.

i like to build somekind of systems. right now i am dealing with socet 939 sli option
the graphics card release date should be 2008-2010

thank you all and Greetings from Estonia (sorry my poor english)

None.

I known that you ask to not say this, but my answer is none anyways.

I would not mount 2 very, very older cards on SLI now. Why use a lot watts of power, have a lot of cooling problems and have all the SLI performance problems like games not using SLI to get the same performance that any mid-range card could get in a single card configuration?

exactly - totally nonsense to opt for such a build

Just don't. Get 1 single better GPU.
Better power / performance / temps.

this is exactly the advice I DID NOT ASKED.

as i told i want to do it
then do not start suggesting other options.
i was hoping to get some seriuos help in bandwidth ammount that opteron 180 is able to use in sli system.

i thinked i get some better advice for SELECTING cards for sli but i vas wrong and the status solved isnt right at all

i ve been thinking here that an older 256 bit card or never 128-bit card.
have to use the gpurewiev and start comparing.

The problem is that have zero sense to use any really old cards to make an SLI like you ask, at least under my point of view.

Normally a SLI is only used for performance in really high intensive graphics and to have 60+ fps in multimonitor configurations, but with 1Gb of ram as you told that makes any resolution over 1080p imposible (even if the cards will give enought gpu power that wouldn't be that case neither) and with middle range cards of 6 years ago that dont give enought performance you haven't really any reason to put a SLI.

Two 470?, two 480s? (normally if you already have one) and maybe i could give you the point but two 9800s that would give even worse result that a 100$ card? no way sorry i could recomend any configuration.

If you want to do, ofc is your choice and your pc but have zero sense to worry with ram bandwidth limitations when the problems you bring with an SLI configuration would be a lot bigger that any problem of bandwidth would ever be.

it may be thatway that this is zero sense but i still want to try it.
the geforce 9 series might be old, i considered long time to have some gtx that is not never than 2010. as i understand the bigger problem is to get the cards work together than the bandwith limitation

so then i can get two 128 bit cards for 1 gb maybe 2 gb of vram and they are not blocked by other components.

goal for me is not performance and not frames per second on some gaming.
goal is to have an sli cards that works with the system
