Hi all!

As the title suggests I would like your recommendations on a good laptop or netbook. =)

I would like it to be nice and powerful but without a huge price premium (supprise supprise huh?), powerful enough to play runescape on at a good frame rate as a general guide. I'm not particularly bothered whether it has a good trackpad or keyboard, as I will be using USB one's anyway. =) I would like a decent screen, however it is not a must. I don't care about the size, to be honest a small form factor would be preferable anyway.

Also, if possible I would like to be able to buy it from a site that offers finance. I can't afford to buy one outright at the moment but I do need one quite soon, and I am willing to pay by finance, however nothing with a metric duck-ton of interest, because that would just be quarking-mad. =P

So if anyone has any suggestions that meets the above criteria I am all ears. =)

I recently bought an original MS Surface Pro (from MS Store) and I couldn't be happier with it. MS sold it for $500 a while back but it is no longer available at that price. It is $600 at Best Buy which is still a great deal in my opinion.
Check out some reader comments on Ars for some techies opinions:

I have never played Runescape on it but I do play Civilization V on Steam and it runs nicely. If you check youtube there are people playing FPSs as well as DOTA 2 on it.
As far as financing goes, Best Buy has interest free financing for 18 months:

Sorry for my late reply!

I was actually considering the Surface as I have seen great reviews, but unless I can find one on finance somewhere I won't be able to afford it right now. I should have mentioned in the thread that I actually live in the UK. =P At the moment there are not alot of places offering the MS Surface (Pro or otherwise) on finance. I will definitely be looking out though. =)

In your oppionion how does does the performance of your Pro compare with, let's say, a similarly priced desktop PC? Would you say it's more, less, about the same?

I mention about Runescape as I am an avid RS fan and play it often (About an hour every day, call me sad if you want =P) on my desktop PC, but I'm also on the move alot with work outings, visiting family, etc. and would like to have something small and simple that I could use on the fly. I won't only be using it for RS of course, I also plan on using it for college (I am in an apprenticeship and have several years of college ahead of me -_- ) asignments and also just casual use when I'm not at my desk.

Thanks for your reply! The MS Surface is defo one of those that I will be considering!
