The texture loads when set to high in any game, disregarding the resolution, will take up a lot of VRAM. It's true that resolution also has an impact on it, but not as much as the setting itself. I think I found myself, having to play Max Payne 3 at 720p and textures at medium or high (don't remember) on my 1 gig GTS 450.

I have 2GB VRAM and a GT 755M, so I am just a little concerned for future titles.

At my resolution of 720p, yes. But only at low-mid settings. If I'm lucky, I could squeeze out some more eye candy without FPS drops. I can run games like Crysis 3 and Battlefield 4 at low-mid settings and still get 30-50 FPS.
Strange. I run these games at medium-high when my GT 755M is approximately equivalent to your GTS 450. Have you overclocked>

Mine is actually a factory downclocked version of the GTS 450 with clocks way below the ones that the reference card has. It's also a DDR3 card instead of the normal GDDR5. Why don't you get another one for SLI? I think you can find one for about $50 and get quite a big boost in performance.

I currently have no plans on upgrading, as of yet. Became interested on the maxwell chip 750 Ti, but realised the price was a little too much and my PSU could handle higher end video cards. Also, the GTX 660 is available for almost that same price. I live in India and prices of GPUs are a bit higher than those from the US.
