I run Max Payne on a mixture of high-ultra settings on 720p with 4XMSAA and the game shows VRAM usage as 1.3GB. Keep in mind, I am playing at 720p.

Are your texture settings high/ultra? That could explain the use of a lot of VRAM.

I have textures set on Very High. That probably explains the high use of VRAM, but that is still a lot for 720p, in my opinion.

The texture loads when set to high in any game, disregarding the resolution, will take up a lot of VRAM. It's true that resolution also has an impact on it, but not as much as the setting itself. I think I found myself, having to play Max Payne 3 at 720p and textures at medium or high (don't remember) on my 1 gig GTS 450.

I have 2GB VRAM and a GT 755M, so I am just a little concerned for future titles.

I think 2 gigs is plenty for now, yeah, but for future titles, especially the next gen ones, it probably will be the bare minimum required.

Is your GTS 450 still enough to run most modern games?

At my resolution of 720p, yes. But only at low-mid settings. If I'm lucky, I could squeeze out some more eye candy without FPS drops.
I can run games like Crysis 3 and Battlefield 4 at low-mid settings and still get 30-50 FPS.

Strange. I run these games at medium-high when my GT 755M is approximately equivalent to your GTS 450. Have you overclocked>

Mine is actually a factory downclocked version of the GTS 450 with clocks way below the ones that the reference card has. It's also a DDR3 card instead of the normal GDDR5.

Why don't you get another one for SLI? I think you can find one for about $50 and get quite a big boost in performance.

I'd have to buy a new motherboard for that. And personally I'd like to upgrade to a single card than SLI them. :)

How much is your upgrade budget?

I currently have no plans on upgrading, as of yet. Became interested on the maxwell chip 750 Ti, but realised the price was a little too much and my PSU could handle higher end video cards. Also, the GTX 660 is available for almost that same price. I live in India and prices of GPUs are a bit higher than those from the US.

Gotcha. What about the regular 750?

The regular 750 doesn't look too good IMO, and I feel it's not really worth the upgrade.
