Hi there

I have an asus PCE-N53 in my desktop and recently it has begun running slowly, i usually now get 5.5 mbps connections even though i've changed nothing from when i first installed the network card and received around 120 mbps. I've looked around on the site and only see solutions for windows 8 and 8.1 but nothing for windows 7. The same method of solving it doesn't work as the registry doesn't have them same parameters for me.

All help is appreciated

The firmware is up to date, even though it's from 2008

I've been checking my event viewer and i've noticed several errors with "ics_ipv6 failed to configure ipv6 stack" can this influence anything? I'm not using Ipv6 for anything

have you try this???
5. Got to windows RUN, type in "regedit". Find the following string:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002bE10318}\XXXX
XXXX in this line is a sub folder. I have 7 of them: 0000, 0001......0007. For me it was 0000 folder. Click on it and you'll see a lot of parameters on the right side. Now find and edit the folowing lines:

AdhocNMode - 1 (to activate "N" in Ad-Hoc mode)
AllowBW40InBGBand - 1 (to turn 40MHz on)
AutoReconnect - 1 (autoreconnect)
CountryRegion - 1 (allows wifi chanels from 1 to 13)
SmartScan - 1 (multimedia/gaming mode)
TXBurst - 1 (speeds up the connection)
and finally
WirelessMode - 5 (for me it was 5. Try which is better for you)
0: legacy 11b/g mixed
1: legacy 11B only
2: legacy 11A only
3: legacy 11a/b/g mixed
4: legacy 11G only
5: 11ABGN mixed
6: 11N only
7: 11GN mixed
8: 11AN mixed
9: 11BGN mixed
10: 11AGN mixed

Yes i've looked at it, it's a solution for Windows 8 As far as i know

When i go into it HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002bE10318}\
i haven't only got 7 folders, i've got 12 and when i browse through them all most of them don't consist of much.
my folder 0013 though consist of

AdhocNMode - 0
AllowBW40InBGBand - 1
CountryRegion - 1
SmartScan - 1
TXBurst - 1
WirelessMode - 5

It doesn't consist of AutoReconnect and it haven't set AdhocNMode to 1

Would AdhocNMode help anything?

Also i've just tried disabling Ipv6 on my computer resulting in 144 MHz connection but i can't connect to the internet without it on

do you do overclocking on cpu or something else?
try to disable the asus Asus PCE N53 on device manager and put it back to enable...
well it seem your are not alone with this problem...
try to remove the driver and let windows update to reinstall it
if all above doesnt work go to Asus PCE N53 propriety and change to windows 8.0 compatibility or other os and see...

I am not overclocking and i've tried uninstalling the device completely and reinstalling the drivers from the original cd and it didn't seem to work, i can't seem to find any option for compability.

I have bought a new router in the hopes of it being the problem, and i've also noticed when ever i connect my 2nd monitor the mbps drop from 19 to 1 mbps. It might have been a coincidence, but i am not sure as i've been having problems ever since i got a second monitor
