Ok, I tried to find this and may have missed something as the common answer I have tried. I have a Win7 32-bit machine with 2 HP Compaq LA2405x monitors connected with a DVI-I to Dual VGA adapter with an ATI Radeon HD 4550, this is my work computer. I have had various issues with this setup, in the past it was due to the Catalyst drivers not supporting the dual monitor setup due to a bug at certain resolutions, so I uninstalled these and the Windows driver worked fine. However, I am on a KVM switch and even though my computer boots first and the other source is usually off or not even connected, so some times I would lose my resolution on the Primary monitor and I would just hit Detect and it would change from the Generic monitor to the HP Compaq LA2405x LED Backlit Monitor as it should which is what Monitor 2 shows.

However, yesterday this wasn't the case the Detect didn't work, just flashes and no change. I rebooted and tried again no luck. Others suggested installing the ATI drivers which I did and used Detect there, but it lists the Monitor as Unknown. I read that sometimes you need to reboot, did this and no change. Then they said uninstall/reinstall, so I did but I used the AutoDetect install from AMD and this put some Steam like program called Raptr on my PC and seemed install a different driver, but still no luck.

So, I went to device manager and removed the monitor, downloaded the driver from HP which the auto-install didn't work because it just saw the one HP monitor. So, I manually updated the driver after hitting scan for hardware changes, saying Have disk and selected the .inf file. Both monitors now say HP Compaq LA2405x LED Backlit Monitor in Device Manager, but in the Win7 Display->Screen Resolution monitor 2 is right, but 1 says Display device on:VGA and doesn't have the 1920x1200 resolution instead it just goes to 1600x1200 which cuts things off, so I am at 1400x1050 which is better than 800x600 or whatever the Generic had, but I still have Windows opening to where the toolbar is beyond the top of the screen and have to manually move them which is tedious when you view 4 or so PDFs for different things and you open/close them throughout the day. Catalyst btw, still says Unknown after setting the driver manually.

I hope this is clear and any advice would be great. Thanks.

Hello im wanting to hear the opinion of this type of monitor for a long time! The hp la2405x does it accept HDCP over hdmi to dvi adapter you know for looking bluray movies? It has issues with ghosting or flicker? Do you play in them/it? How is the input lag? I was reading in the net it has a 5 ms response time but looking to hear an opinión from somebody who owns one, of curse the extra resolution is a plus over 1080p than you for your response!

I am no longer at this company, but it seemed to resolve itself after an update a some point, but I still don't fully understand why the behavior started or what actually resolved the issue.
