Hello!

I have set up a new computer with Asus Z87 Pro motherboard. I connected two displays, first via DVI, second (Toshiba 42WL963G TV) via HDMI (both on iGPU).
Now I have problems with audio. I have tried very hard, but there is no sound coming to Toshiba TV. I have tried with first display (Samsung SysncMaster 2333HD), but it does not work either.
On Computer everything seams to be ok, I can test the "Realtek HDMI HD Audio output" and everything looks fine, but there is nothing coming out of the screens loudspeakers. When connecting via audio cable (analog) plus DVI to HDMI cable sound (and video) is working perfectly. I tried DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter, without any better result.
Has anybody a similar configuration working with sound via HDMI?
I am grateful for every answer / help!

Wolfgang

Finally I could resolve the issue. It was caused by a not correct installed driver. The setup.exe provided by Asus is not working correctly. It starts, but stops then without installing the driver.

I installed the driver manually and it works perfectly now. I can see a 4. audio device named like one of my screens, which gives sound to both HDMI connected screens, one directly plugged to HDMI, the other one using a DisplayPort HDMI adapter.

Thanks for all the help! :)

You need to enter the UEFI BIOS Utility -Advanced Mode not EZ Mode
Go to the Advanced Menu
Onboard Devices Configuration

There you will see
HD Audio Controller [Enabled]
Front Panel Type [HD]
SPDIF Out Type [SPDIF]

Change the BIOS Option on SPDIF Out Type from [SPDIF] to [HDMI]
Save changes & exit BIOS.

When I go to Control Panel / Sound I can see three devices: Loudspeaker, Realtek Digital Output and Realtek HDMI Output.
When I am testing the devices all of them show the same optical display, but only "Loudspeaker" gives a sound (connected annalogly to SyncMaster 2333HD).
In BIOS the settings are as Calvin7 described.

I have exact same issue. What/whose driver did you install, and where did you go to download it?
Thanks.

If I am not wrong (it's already a long time ago) I used the latest "Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver V10.18.10.3262 for Windows Win8.1 64bit---(WHQL)" driver supplied by and downloaded from ASUS for my Z87-PRO MoBo.
There comes a setup.exe, which I didn't use, but installed the graphics driver via device manager (Geräte Manager). There is an "Installation_Readme.txt" in Win64 folder, which describes the installation for "For Intel(R) Display Audio Driver ...".
I hope you can fix your problems!

I am still having great difficulty with this issue. I have done everything mentioned here and still no sound through tv via hdmi which is plugged into z87 mobo using onboard hdmi. If anyone has any other thoughts, they would be greatly appreciated. It may be worth adding I am using 2 x dell U2414h monitors daisy chained over thunderbolt and my tv is plugged in as previously mentioned.

Do you have further advice? I have this very set-up and have followed these instructions. I'm running Linux Mint 17. Is the HDMI route only going to work on Windows? In my case, I don't care about sound, only video.

I have two HP ZR30w monitors with DisplayPort, the one plugged into the z87-PRO's DisplayPort works. The other works at 1200x800 if plugged into DVI (double). But, when plugged into HDMI via a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, then an HDMI cable to the z87-PRO's HDMI port, the monitor pretends there's no input.

To me, this could simply be a driver issue (Linux/Mint/Ubuntu) or it could be that Monitor -> DisplayPort -> HDMI -> mobo is bad karma. What do you think? Thanks for any comment or advice.
