Advice on 1k gaming rig build

Hey all,
First account at Tom's, but have been looking at the forums for 6 months. I recently fell into $1k, so I am building a gaming/bioinformatics computer to last me through grad school (Hopefully). Here is what my build looks like so far. I already own the corsair 500w power supply. PCPartPicker says I only need 364w, though I am sure that does not include the LED/Fans from the case. I also have a 1TB seagate plus external that will act as my HDD. Any suggestions on the build, or info on whether the power supply will be enough is greatly appreciated. I also need a gaming headset... Is the water cooling a bad idea? Is this a good time to purchase a graphics card? I am not to familiar with O.C., but would like to learn with this build.

Everything is good. Change the following-
1. Drop the water cooling and invest more on graphics card. Get the gtx 760 or 770.
2. Drop the 840 Pro. grab the 120 GB 840 evo.
3. Get dual channel RAM (2x4GB) instead of a single stick.

Went with a new PSU, as the 550w would be cutting it really close, and the CX series isn't meant for overclocking, like it looks like you want to do.

Wow, quick responses. Thanks guys. Why should I change the RAM to 2x4 sticks. I thought being able to have a second stick of the 8g vengeance would be a nice upgrade later. I love the idea of 770, I wasn't sure how I could fit in the budget. I only plan to have my OS and a few games on the SDD, so could I go even smaller or is 120 GB a good fit. Ya, I wasnt sure about the 500w PSU... I guess I will sell or put into another build. Is there a noticeable difference between the 2ms and 5ms on the monitors? I cant imagine I can tell a difference between a few milliseconds...

Also, I see the change to the M5A99X EVO. Will I be able to run duel 770's if I want to upgrade later?

No, at 60Hz, anything under 7-9ms is not noticeable. And you could still add 8GB of RAM to this build easily.

120GB is perfect it sounds like. I have a 120GB with my OS, programs and 5 games on it and still have 45GB available.

You want a 2x4 set to get dual-channel performance from the RAM.

Yes it supports SLI. get better PSU if you are getting the 770 though.

This looks really great. I'm thinking about ordering this today. Does this seem like the right time to purchase this build (as far as deals go)? Could it be cheaper without (really) affecting quality? Is the 770 price affected by Bitminning? I have never heard of GeIL, what does a lifetime warranty entail? Should I order from the various websites (NCIX US, Amazon, TigerDirect, Superbiiz, OutletPC, Newegg) or try for a central site? Sorry for all the questions...

A 650w PSU will NOT power dual 770s in this build, do not try that. If you plan to get another 770 for SLI, I would get a 750w or 850w power supply.

GeIL is fine, RAM is RAM, so you're good there. You could probably save $40 to go with the FX-6300, and $65 by not going with the SSD, but at this budget I wouldn't unless you need to. And no, the 770 isn't effected by miners :)

Should I stay with a XFX PSU if going to 750W. Can this support duel 770's and 16 gb of RAM? Can I trust all of these vendors? Can I trust a rebate or buy with no rebate but slightly more exspensive?

One last question, my order is actually cheaper by ordering from only newegg and amazon. For less than $10 difference (After mail-in rebate!), would you get the Asus VS247H-P 23.6-Inch Full-HD LED-Lit LCD Monitor http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005BZNDS0/?tag=pcpapi-20 over the Acer G236HL Bbd 23-Inch Screen LCD-Lit Monitor http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0098Y77U0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AZ8ZZL30AH7DI. The acer does not come with an HDMI port, while the ASUS does. That being said, I do not have a current need for HDMI (or do I? :??:)
