3 DVI-I cables or (2) DVI-I and (1) DVI-D?

I have 2 Asus HD 7770 cards (Crossfire-connected). Each has (1) DVI-I and (1) DVI-D connector. The question is: Can I just use (3) DVI-I cables to run to my (3) monitor setup? Or do I need to use (1) DVI-D cable since I'm (1) DVI-I graphics card connector short?

Or, (2) DVI-D and (1) DVI-I?

Or, (3) DVI-D?

BTW-the LG E63-series monitors have DVI-D in.

DVI-I carries both a digital and an analog (VGA) signal. You can use to connect to your DVI-D displays with no worries with either the DVI-I or DVI-D ports (it doesn't matter).

Well, I've set up my 3 monitor system after confirming my online chat with Asus that your reply is correct. The 2nd card has no display, even after swapping cables and monitors.

Win 8.1
Both cards are lit (pilot LED's)
Both cards are recognized in Device Manager and are "working".
CCC sees only monitors attached to card #1.

All right: thanks to all for their time and trouble. After quite a lot of searching and reading and trying different cable configurations, the definitive answer is:

If Crossfire is enabled, the cable configuration MUST include one monitor connected via the DisplayPort. Mine, right now is:

DVI-D to Monitor #1 (left) (Card #1)
DisplayPort to Active DP/DVI-D adapter to Monitor #2 (Card #1)
DVI-D to monitor #3 (Card #1)

Card #2 is not used for video output in Crossfire, so far as I can determine.

If Crossfire is NOT enabled, 2 DVI's from card #1 and 1 DVI from card #2 works fine. But only in 1920 X 1080 resolution for each monitor. In fact, at least with Win 8.1, I have a downloaded "Classic Sportscar" theme and the left and right monitors show 2 different cars/scenes while the center (working) monitor shows the desktop. Cool.

Tomorrow I'll play with Crysis 3 and 3-monitor play in Crossfire.

P.S. Why don't the different video card manufacturers provide at least SOME sort of guide for this. No manual of any sort was provided in the OEM Asus box.I found a video on AMD's website explaining this quite clearly. Asus support was bloody useless. And the various vids on YouTube were...sophomoric at best.
