I am building a PC/Steam Machine. I wanted your opinions on the processor I should select. My main uses for this PC will be productivity and gaming. I mainly play games that are a few years old as I do not like paying a premium for a new game.
The games I have played recently:
Team Fortress 2
Left 4 Dead 2
Skyrim
League of Legends
I am going with the low wattage processor as I will not be overclocking the PC. I understand their is extremely little difference between 65 Watt and 84 Watt TDP. My energy savings will be minimal. I am just selecting this as a preference.
The main question I have is basically can the i5-4750S hold up to game play for the next 4-5 years? Is the additional $100 for the i7 justified? I know I will have to swap out the GPU in that time. The specs for the PC, I am looking to build is more powerful than my current AMD-FX6300 build but consumes 200W less in power. I use this PC roughly eight hours out of the day.
