Hey guys, new to the forum here. I have recently purchased a 1TB hard drive, installed it into my PC, but it won't show up in disk management and I'm not sure what to do from this point.

Do you guys have any clue what could be wrong? I just hope it isn't faulty!

Also, would it have anything to do with the Storage Controllers?

Many Thanks!

Try this.

When you connect a new device.

Make sure it has the Sata cable connected to it and Sata power from the psu is connected.

Go into the bios of the motherboard and verify the bios has picked up the drive and its size or capacity.
If not you may have to enable in the bios the sata port its connected to.

If it`s fine then boot into windows.

Disk management uses a virtual service

In Disk management, you must click on options tab, and re scan for drives.

It needs to do that to update the list of storage devices it has found to display in disk manager.

New drive appears.

Right click and format.

Thanks for your reply, Shaun! I went into my bios settings and the hdd wasn't detected. Do you think its faulty or the sata ports are faulty?
