1 2gb stick of ram showing as 1 gig

i have 1 stick of ram that is 2gigs but shows up as 1 gig. it was shwoing up as 2 gigs but when i decided to do a fresh install of win7 ultimate 64bit the other day. now it only showing up as 1 gig. i cant seem to find out what happend
