I have 4Gb of DDR2 @ 1066Mhz. I also have 2 spare slots and I have other DDR2 sticks lying round. What I'd like to know is. Is it worth adding more Ram of a slower spreed ( 1 Gb @800Mhz), or stick with the 4 @ 1066?

Hi,

What do you do with your computer:

Gaming : faster the better
encoding video : the more the better.

Be advise that, you might get hickups and BSOD if you mix or all ram will run at lower speed (all at 800). Depends on the quality of your mobo.

You could try to overclock the 800 @ 1066. Since most of the time 800 mhz memory are easy overclock able if they are from a quality brand.

Hi dextermat, thanks for the quick reply :)
I'm a gamer through and through. My PC is 5 years old and I'm not in a position to buy a new one :(
At my last look DDR2@ 1066Mhz was expensive. Costs more them the newer DD3!

I know if I use slower RAM it all likely to rum at a slower speed (800Mhz). The sticks I have are PNY ones, are they decent? I believe so....

Is there a guide to overclocking Memory as I believe it involves BIOS & voltages? It's not out of my league, but I've not done it before.
