What is the difference between 24 pin connectors on the Corsair RM850 vs Corsair AX Platinum series 869/760?

I have the RM850 and the Corsair individually sleeved cable set that matches the PSU connections minus the 24 pin connector (could not find stock anywhere CP-8920057). I did purchase the the 24 pin connector for the AX platinum series 860/760 (CP-8920073) hoping that I can swap out the connector (remove the connector from the stock cable and place it on the AX cable so it will fit) from the stock 24 pin cable that came with the RM850. I'm not sure if the difference is the shape of the connector or if the pin schematic is also different. Can anyone tell me if this is possible please?

My thoughts were that they both have 24 pins (wires) so why wouldn't I just be able to switch the end pieces and make it work? Can the pinout be changed?
