Is 8.1 faster than windows 7 enough to lean towards I know the ui is pretty crap if it's anything like the windows phone or the xbox one. Supposedly there may be a free 8.1 coming out.

Notes it will be used for gaming and editing youtube videos and like other media editing and also I really want to be able to use a tv as a secondary monitor.

My budget was originally 800 but I think 1200 seems more reasonable and how hard would it be to put together myself I have installed amps car audio video a lot of electronic just don't want to booger up sumn like this.

Only items in stone are the 8350 and the sabertooth.

Welcome to PC Building friend...its an awesome hobby/passion.

For your specs, my 2 cents:

CPU: Good Choice, 8350 is a great chip.

Motherboard: I have a z77 Sabertooth and love it, but can admit that the SABERTOOTH boards are overpriced for their feature set. ASUS makes the best mobo's IMO though, so you cant go wrong with them.

CPU Cooler: I'd recommend the closed loop liquid coolers by Antec or Corsair: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181030

GPU: Im a big fan of nVidia (and EVGA cards), especially in light of the price rise on new AMD cards. With your budget, I think you could squeeze a GTX 780 in there...and if not, a 770 is a great card as well.

RAM: Ripjaw is solid RAM, I'd go 8GB though and save the...
for your budget, i would get 8gb ram and a gtx 770 or 780. and a decent quality 600watt psu will do, and i would get a 128gb ssd to boot OS and games, and the speed difference between windows 7 and 8 is almost unnoticable, so its really just a personal preference. also, if you want to play older games, like pre-2012, get windows 7.

RAM: Ripjaw is solid RAM, I'd go 8GB though and save the money...gamers never need more than 6GB in 99.9999 situations.

HDD: Im a big fan of WD Black Caviar...that said, many HDD are pretty equal (Seagate..etc)

SSD: I recommend the Samsung Evo, big as you can afford. Wouldnt fuss with multiples in RAID or anything. Use your HDD for media files and certain games...

Optical Drive: Just a cheap OEM Samsung/Sony/LG DVD Burner for 20.00...unless you want a Blu-ray Drive. I have an LG and love it.

PSU: 850 is TOTALLY enough, even for two 780's and the parts you listed above. If youre going single card, I'd look for a 750 by Corsair/Seasonic/Coolmaster/Rosewill...850 if you want to SLI/CXF

Good luck friend, PM for any questions you may have

You can still play older game on Windows 8 (compatibility Mode). If you're coming from Windows XP, just jump to Window 8.

Also try dumping this build in www.pcpartpicker.com so we can pick it apart best

Best Luck.

Ok thanks y'all also can I later add more RAM. Also could I do crossfire or sli on that motherboard. Also will a blu ray burn or play cd DVD. R n rws? Also how about that case I know it's expensive but I know you get what you pay for. Also is there anything else you would add that I had not mentioned and I'm on vista on a Alienware m17 i know there over priced but I only paid 300 for it.
