I just built my first PC on Monday and loaded up windows and installed the updates. Windows vista getting 8 soon. So I put everything in and it started up just fine. I downloaded Skype and steam and some games. But every time I play a game it will crash my PC in around 1- 10 minutes. And today it crashed the second I hit answer on Skype. I don't now if it's just skype and games but it crashes and I need to know why.

My specs:
CPU: amd fx 6300
GPU: GeForce gtx 760
Motherboard: 970 a-ds3p
CPU fan: heat sink fan( all it says and game with the CPU)
Hdd: seagate barracuda 320 7200 rpm ( ment to get 1T)
Ram: 8gb 1300 MHz

Have you tried uninstalling Skype? or maybe back tracking your steps of what you installed right after installing windows. Hopefully you could eliminate what is causing the issue then find a different way to install the certain program causing problems. You could also do a little research to see if anyone else is having the same problems with Skype or any of the games you installed.

My power supply is a coolmax 600watt
Also I have tried to install it another wag and still crashed. The games didn't have nagging todo with it. I searched. And when it crashes it just shuts completely off. Doesn't reboot it anything.

Have you tried doing several other things with the computer and it only just crashes using those programs? if its crashing all the time, maybe something got corrupted or messed up during windows install.

See what I think Is could be te hdd being faulty or something. But then I would be able to start up my PC right? And when I was downloading some updates while restarting the pc it said "error loading os" could that mean there is a corrupt file and I need to reinstall windows?

JavaScript:
If you have skype I can still use it on my phone. You should add me so I can explain it in a lot more detail and possibly show you the bios and my set up and what not

Hopefully reinstalling windows is the last resort you may be able to to rewind before the update. It is quite common for issues to occur after the install and when updating windows, really stinks when it happens. Is it a hybrid drive correct?

untill you can install a usb version of windows 8 os 90 day trial i wouldnt go messing around with my parts just yet for free, a copy of Windows 8.1 Enterprise. Yes, of course there's a catch: after 90-days, your computer will begin to shut down every hour and will continue to do so until you replace the operating system. In other words, this is a trial version of Windows 8.1, designed for hardware and software developers to test their products on. This might be useful if you need very short term access to Windows 8.1 but it's not a long term solution., if this install on a usb drive doesnt work shout at the psu and call it cheap

edit: on a more helpful note try making sure you use 1 12v cable(rail) to 1 molex to 6pin adapter for your gpu and your dvd drive

It's not the Gpu. I have a GeForce gt 610 and a GeForce gtx 760. I tried both and installed the correct drivers and it still crashed. And how do I get. Copy of the windows 8.1 trial version?

Also could it be that I didn't plug in the wires into the motherboard correctly? I'm sure I did but I could have misplaced one. If I did misplace one can someone please tell me where everything goes? I really appreciate you guys taking time out of your days to help me with my problems. It just shows there truly are nice people in this messed up world we call home. :)

Long as you have the main wires where they go everything should be good the 24 and normally 8 pin connectors for mother board then depending on the graphics card a 6 pin and a 8 or 2 6's just depends. Make sure to have you sata's hooked up and powered. Newegg has a great video series on building a computer that will take you step by step, just to make sure you did not miss anything, you could check it out.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/evalcenter/hh699156.aspx HERE. your motherboard has a 24pin plug and a 4pin plug closer to the cpu and vrm's. make sure that is installed it is a seperate square 4pin cable or a 4+4 pin cable attached to the psu. make sure no wires are pushed into any tight corners or sharp points on the motherboard and make sure it is seated properly to get a good earth , anythings possible with a pc , only good thing about consoles is only one part to return if it nacks up

It's a single 4 pin that goes from the PSU to the motherboard. Tomorrow I'm taking it into bestbuy to see i they can see what is wrong. And yeah man that's the one good thing about a console haha
