Hey so I littererly just setup my alienware 14 and the wireless internet is painstakingly slow. (just over 1 mb/s) I tried plugging it in to an Ethernet cord and it went back up to normal (12 mb/s). I tried puting my laptop right next to my router so theres no interference but the highest it got was 1. (in my room i didnt even get a signal). My drivers are up to date. My internet card is apparently 'really good' too. Anyone got ideas of how to make its wireless work like a NORMAL laptop?

Hi

You need to test whether you have a problem with your laptop built in wireless,
the Wireless access point in your router or interference

Have you tried at another location, either a friends house or wireless hotspot ?
Have you been able to connect other devices, smart phones etc
(and get a reasonable speed)

If your neighbours and your self all use the same network channel usually 1, 6 or 11 they reduce signal strength & speed.
Nirsoft.net has software to display all nearby wireless network signals (WirelessNetView - Monitor wireless networks on your area )

Are the wireless access point & laptop modern & using Wireless N ?

regards
Mike Barnes

Hey thanks for the help. Yeah every other device in my house works fine. Anything from desktops, to PC laptops, to MacBooks to iPhones. The only thing not working is my computer. I just spoke with alienware support and they said they're sending a technichine over to replace my wireless card. If that doesn't work any ideas. Also how do I do the thing u said with the channels
