hi tom's hardware i am looking too slightly rebuild my computer!
firstly hears my specs.
OS: windows 7 64bit
motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2P
CPU: AMD quad core fx 4100 4.1Ghz
GPU: AMD HD 7750
PSU: 500W

can anyone recommend a good CPU and motherboard for me i want too switch to Intel so i am guessing the motherboard will need swapping out as-well.

thank you for taking your time to look at this thread and will hope for some positive feed back.

Looking at your current set up, most bang for your buck in terms of upgrading would be the AMD 6300 or 8150 so you don't need to swap motherboards, and spend the money you would have spent on a processor on a higher end GPU. Those procs paired with a GX 750 TI should give you a better boost in performance over a new motherboard/intel CPU.
Most games are dependent on the GPU so spend as much as is affordable on that. Proc is not as important in this situation, but going up higher on the AM3 proc you have will help out in the long run.

I don't see the fx8150 on newegg anymore, but if your board supports the 8350 that will be the highest you can do. Not the best if we're comparing it to Intels procs. That doesn't mean its not a good processor, they just suffer when it comes to single threaded applications.
