Hi, I just built a computer and I'm trying to get the display to work but when I plug the hdmi cord to the motherboard slot it shuts off. What is going on?

Solution

sorry i was playing thief so when you turn ion your pc no lights are on in the inside of the computer ok that makes sense yeah the bent cpu pins might be it how bad are they try takin like a 0.5 led mechanical pencile and slip it over the pins to straighten them if you bent them yourself but if they came like that just rma them

ok make sure your ram is in all the way can you see the motherboards post? or are u getting no signal at all and when you get no signal does your pc turn off like the led lights in the system turn off or are they still on but no video also if its completely shutting off a possibility maybe your out of wattage try removing your dedicated gpu and using only your integrated
edit: nope you have a bit of wattage to spare but thats strange though why this is happening check EVERYTHING make sure its plugged in all the way i mean unplug yo mobo gpu everything and put it back in and see also really check your ram i remeber my laptop wouldnt turn on because the ram wasnt in all the way

i dont know maybe one of your parts got shorted out or are defective try a different outlet as your monitor and when you plug the cable into the dedicated card did it shutoff the pc or the monitor says no signal

Well the light on the power button doesn't come on. Could the display problem come from bent pins on the cpu holder thingy?
