Why is this happening? It jumps from about 90-200 in dungeons and about 60-150 outside.... I got everything maxed out besides my render distance.. I turn stuff down... still seems laggy..

SYSTEM SPECS

APU- AMD A8 5600k
GPU- GTX 750
MEM- 6gb DDR3 1333Mhz
MOBO- BIOSTAR A55ML2
OS- WIN 7

Your FPS jumps up? Turn on V-Sync.

vsync is awful :/  I SHOULD say... the fps DROPS.. because it runs smooth 170 fps for a few seconds then Ill turn or somethin n it drops to like 90

V-Sync is not awful. It makes your fps stay at what your monitor actually displays.

Just varying load levels. 90 FPS is still plenty

I can tell a HUGE difference from when its running 90.. or 75 which my screen is 75mhz .. I can tell a huge difference between 75 and 90.. and then I can even tell a huge difference from 90-200 ... I play some first person shooters and you can definately tell the difference from 60fps (call of duty on the xboxone) to 150 fps (pc) so vsync does that but also holds the computer back from getting more frames.. but I did try it.. not much better.. only thing that makes it bvetter is turning graphics from fancy to fast.. which is bs cuz I just got the gtx 750.. what else could be makign it do it? my cpu? mem?

No you can't. its not even possible for you to tell the difference because your monitor sets the limit.

this is an OBVIOUS PEBKAC error

I sincerely doubt that. And even if it were, it wouldn't be a big difference in a game like MC anyway

Check the version of java if 32 bit is installed along side 64 bit this can happen
it has happened to me
get rid of 32bit java because that's what it will use by default

I have a gtx 670 and also seem to be a bit laggy on certain servers, especially in crowded rooms. My FPS never drops below 60, but it is still looking laggy. It is probably the server to be honest...

For the java thingy, it will increase your FPS. At least it did for me ;) .
